Some Professionals Grow. Others Simply Get Older.
Some professionals become more impressive with experience.
Others simply become older.
It’s not a particularly comfortable observation, but it’s one I’ve seen repeatedly throughout my career.
Because time alone doesn’t create expertise.
Some people spend ten years learning.
Others repeat the same year ten times.
What develops professional judgement is not exposure.
It’s reflection.
The ability to recognise patterns, understand consequences and adjust behaviour accordingly.
This is particularly true in Business Aviation, where many decisions exist in the grey area between procedure and discretion.
And that is often where true professionalism becomes visible.
